Even more so than with desktop computers, these high-end, high-performance power
computers are differentiated on speed and throughput. With the additional cooling
performance of Polara™, Enerdyne provides manufacturers of these devices an easy
way to squeeze out more performance from the existing design and logic components.
The increasingly constricted size of servers used in networked "server farms",
such as 1U and 2U form-factors, makes cooling difficult and expensive. Leading
server manufacturers have resorted to custom cooling approaches, adding significant
cost and complexity in both the design and production phases. Enerdyne's Polara
improves the performance of any cooling solution. Pumping heat away from the
concentrated die boosts efficiency, utilizing more fully the cooler periphery of
backend cooling parts.
Higher efficiencies are realized by speeding the transport of heat from the concentration
of the die, and utilizing more fully the cooler periphery of the backend parts of the
cooling solution. Limited chassis space and limited airflow become less severe problems.
Use of Indigo as thermal interface material could also accelerate dissipation of heat
for a fraction of normal costs.
Finally, as with other kinds of computers, noise is becoming a bigger and bigger problem.
In a room full of servers, each with as many as 5 fans, noise is moving from distracting
to unhealthy levels. By shrinking, slowing, or even eliminating fans, Enerdyne is a
leading solution to the increasingly troublesome din of fans and blowers.
